Apply for a Juan de la Cierva with us
The TechnoSperm group is looking for candidates to apply to the Juan de la Cierva 2026 call, hosted by the University of Girona. If you have recently completed your PhD and want to work in reproductive biotechnology, we would like to hear from you.
How it works
The Juan de la Cierva is a postdoctoral fellowship from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, managed by the State Research Agency (AEI). The 2026 call has been published: the official participant form will be available from 12 to 26 November 2026, and host institutions may submit applications from 12 November to 3 December 2026. Both deadlines are at 14:00 (mainland Spain time). The form on this page is an expression of interest in preparing an application with TechnoSperm: it does not replace the official AEI form. Contact us as soon as possible to discuss fit, prepare the documentation and confirm the UdG's internal deadlines. The University of Girona formally submits the application as the host institution.
Who we are looking for
Recent PhD holders whose work fits one of our lines: sperm physiology and preservation, chromatin integrity and architecture, fertility biomarkers, reproductive ageing or embryo development. You do not need to have worked in exactly our field. We look at technical experience, scientific output and, above all, whether there is a genuine fit with what we do.

Salary
At least €31,200 gross a year
This is the minimum the appointed researcher must be paid. The AEI contributes €35,700 a year to the host institution towards the salary and the employer's social security costs; this contribution is not the gross salary.

To cover costs directly related to the research activity.
